ACSA Annual Conference
Dr. Thomas O'Neill gave a Safety Spotlight talk on the following: Rigging and Hoisting: Time for a Shared Alberta Standard?

The team also hosted a booth to talk with conference attendees and spread awareness about Promote Safe Work's inititatives.
Dr. Estacio Periera gave a Safety Spotlight talk to discuss his innovative research project, a virtual reality crane safety simulator.
Strategic Industry Panels
Our team hosted two Strategic Industry Panels to talk about safety in Rigging, Hoisting, and Lifting in Alberta. In Edmonton and Calgary we gathered experts to generate a discussion about developing tools, standards, and strategies to reduce Serious Injuries and Fatalities (SIFs).

MHSA 25th Annual Stars Golf Tournament
This summer we joined the 25th Annual Stars Golf Tournament hosted by the Manufacturing Health and Safety Association!
We served up our (non-alcoholic) Safety Spritz on the green and chatted with golfers about our Creative Sentence project.

Visit to Canyon Rigging
On August 8, the Promote Safe Work team visited the Calgary Canyon Rigging facility to learn about how their team manufactures and provides rigging and lifting hardware to the industry.
The team gave us a tour of the facility, and we plan to meet again later this summer!

Visit to MHSA
On June 6, the Promote Safe Work team travelled out to RockyView County to visit the Manufacturing Health and Safety Association Site.
We learned about how MHSA teaches and talks about Rigging, Hoisting, and Lifting, and the potential for a common standard in AB.

Steps for Life
On May 4, a few members of our team walked 5km around the Glenmore Reservoir for the Steps for Life fundraiser.
Steps for Life – Walking for Families of Workplace Tragedy: It’s a one-of-a-kind event that continues to make strides for workplace health and safety and families affected by workplace tragedy.
This year they raised 1,087,196 across Canada to be invested in peer-support programs for families!
